Job Summary
Forklift drivers are responsible for operating industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines, and loading docks, into railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating forklifts to transport goods around the warehouse or facility
- Loading and unloading goods from vehicles such as trucks or aircraft
- Checking loads are secure and performing basic maintenance on forklifts
- Stacking goods in the correct storage bays by following inventory control instructions
- Checking equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations
- Keeping accurate records of operations and activities
- Communicating effectively with team members and following operational instructions
Skills and Qualifications Required
Candidates should possess:
- Proven experience as a forklift driver
- A valid forklift operation license or certification
- Good understanding of modern warehousing practices and inventory control
- Physical fitness and the strength to handle loads
- Good coordination skills and a careful attention to detail
- Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
- Basic proficiency in English, both verbal and written
