Job Summary
Laundry attendants are responsible for operating washing machines and dryers, folding clothes and linens, and sometimes performing minor repairs on textiles. The job may also include inventory management and adhering to sanitation regulations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Sorting, washing, drying, pressing, and folding clothing and other textile items
- Removing stains from items using the appropriate procedures
- Tracking which items belong to whom, ensuring that all items are accounted for
- Following all laundry care labels and processing items accordingly
- Maintaining inventory of all cleaning supplies and communicating needs to management
- Ensuring laundry facilities are clean and orderly
- Complying with safety regulations and maintaining clean and orderly work areas
- Performing minor sewing duties to repair small rips or tears in textiles
Skills and Qualifications Required
Candidates should possess:
- Strong attention to detail and patience to perform repetitive tasks
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy lifting and standing for long periods
- Previous experience in laundry services is preferred but not mandatory
- Basic communication skills in English or French
- Willingness to adhere to all health and safety regulations pertaining to the handling and cleaning of textiles
- Exceptional multi-tasking skills
